  • WSET & CMS are focused on professional restaurant sommeliers and not everyday enthusiasts. You will have some refreshers but I will still go over practical skills like how to read a wine label or how to pick a wine at a restaurant. You'll also have access to a wine expert and our community, which neither of these options has.

  • When we designed the modules, the intention was to be able to learn about wines without drinking them. So although you don't get wine with the course, we give suggestions and homework assignments that can be done with or without the wine.

  • The course, community discussion, calendar of events, and expert Q&As will be hosted on Skool.

Real People, Real Results

  • Learning wine is like learning a new language - how to describe taste, varietals, processes - and it can be overwhelming. Marie and Slik Skool breaks down that language into bite-size videos and discussions. The modules make wine education approachable and you learn how to talk about the wines you want to drink and share with others. The community is a great way to meet other students who are equally curious and enthusiastic about wine. Come join the journey!

  • I went to a wine tasting and really had an incredible experience. Wines that I thought were not for me became fast favorites and the way that the wine was paired to the food was incredible. I wanted to know how to do this for myself. I stumbled on slikwines’ instagram page and decided to give Slik Skool a shot. It was exactly what I was looking for. Marie is super helpful and the content is concise and clear. It was perfect for a newbie like me who liked wine but had no idea how to explain what I liked about it other than saying the colour of the wine. Slik Skool is a great place to dive into the wine world and really get a good foundation of wine knowledge. Marie goes over the regions, grape varieties, pairings, and other aspects that I was really looking for. She also really encourages interactions on the site between the users which I found to be great. This has served as great springboard, and I highly recommend to anyone that wants to get their feet wet (🦶🏻🍇) into the world of wine.

  • I have tried a variety of different methods of learning more about wines. I have taken courses, webinars, seminars, and read through different popular wine education books. All fell short of what I was expecting by either information overload, or just saying the same thing over and over again. Slik Skool has been different in that it provides real applicable information in a format that isn’t overwhelming. Like a real collegiate class, the material presented doesn’t overload you and is presented in a way that is easily digestible for many people. It gets even better when you get to converse with your classmates and share knowledge or experiences. My all time favorite part of Slik is that we have access to Marie, all of her knowledge, and connections. Everyone is there to learn and to help others succeed. Although it may seem a little intimidating at first, the community, the knowledge, and the price makes it all well worth it!

  • I think Marie brings something casual to wine tasting which is often the most intimidating part of being a "beginner". I love that she reminds us that a wine can smell like Gusher's, or that we can approach our own pantries to take stock of common smells... I bopped into the kitchen and gave my spice rack a quick run through. I know that the world of wine is expansive and to approach it with a beginner's mind, but I truly appreciate that this is the lesson she's also imparting, reminding us that practice makes perfect not some blind talent.

    Ali D. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • The true value of Slik Skool comes from Marie's time, expertise, and ability to pick her brain. The modules are practical, fun, and approachable. I would genuinely recommend this course!

    Emily M. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • As a very, VERY part time wine educator, I was drawn to Marie and her world of Slik Wines. I quickly found a kindred spirit who wants to help people learn about wine in a user-friendly and fun way. Slik School is more than a bunch of self-paced modules; it is a community that shares and encourages. Most of all, Slik School and Silk Wines is all about leaving attitude at the door. The world of wine is full of ego and jargon, which keeps people away. In stark contrast, Marie's approach is welcoming and personal. I guess that's what I love about Marie: she truly wants to get to know you and help you grow in your wine journey. She's also not afraid to admit that she and her Slik world are a work in progress. How refreshing! She is committed to providing even more interesting and diverse opportunities for her Squad. Lucky us!

    Michael M. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Slik Skool was both entertaining and helpful. Marie has an easy-going vibe to her teaching that just made it feel like I was listening to a friend talks about wine; she made it fun to learn about wine. She breaks things down to a pretty granular level without getting overly nerdy and losing you along the way.

    Johanna M. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Engaging, informative and entertaining! My first introduction to wine was as a kid in church, so I don’t put it lightly when I say I was clueless! I started doing wine tastings at a local shop, but honestly, they could have been speaking Klingon for all the good it did in helping me understand what I was drinking. Enter Marie Cheslik. I first discovered her on TikTok and was so impressed at how approachable she made wine. So, when she announced she was doing a course I signed up instantly! From the first module, I was hooked. Her enthusiasm and knowledge were a breath of fresh air, and her style of presenting this material was so down to earth it felt like we were having a conversation. If you are someone starting at level 0 wine knowledge, take this course. If you are wine enthusiast wanting to deepen your knowledge, take this course. If you are a sommelier trying to understand how to get people excited about wine, take this course. Marie Cheslik has put her heart into this and it shows. You will not be disappointed!

  • I’m someone who really enjoys wine but would always feel a little intimidated and “less than” when attending wine tastings or even just shopping at my local wine shop. On Wine Online was just what I needed in order to gain confidence in understanding how to not only taste wine but also learn more about regions, varietals, pairings and more. This course is perfect for the professional or a hobbyist like myself. It’s a world of difference attending a tasting now, I actually understand everything that the host is talking about and I don’t struggle to describe the wines. Highly recommend!

    Vicky W. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • From the relaxed pace of the modules to the interactive group and approachable curriculum, I would honestly recommend this to anyone who's interested in diving a bit deeper into wine. The course is a great mix of theory and practice, of work and play, there's no bullshit and Marie meets everyone at eye-level.

    Evan W. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • The Classroom modules have helped structure my understandings of European regions. It's been so helpful to break things down and made my trip to a wine festival last weekend that much more enjoyable because once you realize how many of the same grape varietals are used, it becomes exciting to explore the nuances of the regions!

    Hayley W. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Do it. It's fun. It's worth it. I have definitely solidified my place as the wine guy in my friend group. I am the one they pass the wine menu out to at dinner. I am the one who can pick out and bring some bangin' wines to family dinner. It's great! I can make more educated decisions when looking at a wine menu and plan out which wine goes better with my meal.

    Nick R. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Slik school has been exactly the wine education I have been looking for. I knew something geared towards wine professionals wasn't necessarily for me, and as someone who always knew *just enough* to get by in certain situations, I can't believe how much I have learned being a part of Slik school. I can now confidently articulate what I like, don't like, and navigate a wine large wine shop or restaurant wine list with ease. I feel like there's always more to learn, and Marie is an absolute rockstar at facilitating a great learning experience. It is also really fun to be able to interact with the other folks in the group, as we're all coming from different experiences, tastes, regions, etc. Overall, if you want to know even just a little more about wine, I would 10/10 recommend joining Slik school!

    Sam S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • I can’t recommend Slik Skool enough for people looking to grow their wine knowledge. Marie has made learning about wine so approachable compared to other wine classes that make it feel like such an elitist hobby. With these classes, I have been able to gain confidence in my wine knowledge and become that friend in the group that people look to for wine recommendations. Even people in the wine industry thought I worked in wine because of my comments and questions, and I got this understanding because of Slik Skool. I have loved my experience with Slik Skool and cannot wait to keep learning and engaging with this awesome community!

    Kristen K. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • It makes sense now! Finishing up module 2 and I had an ah-ha moment! I gravitate towards full bodied 'big boy' reds, and I know if I see a dark deep red in my glass I will (probably) enjoy it. But I never really understood why I also love Barolos and Barbarescos when they look so similar to a Pinot. But now that I know Nebbiolo is the exception to the thin skinned grape rule, it makes so much more sense!!

    Amanda F. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • I am planning on retiring early next year and the one thing I've been wanting to do was to take wine classes. I don't want to be a sommelier, far from it. But I want to know more. I want to be able to pick the right wine at the restaurant and not decide on the quality based on the price. I want to understand the nuances of wine so I can fully appreciate every glass for every moment. I know that sounds deep but I’m sure a lot of you can relate. One day, while going down Instagram the rabbit hole, I came across the Slikwines account and I really liked the style. It wasn't pretentious, it wasn't taking itself too seriously and it seems like Marie was talking to regular people like me. She was talking about the Slik Squad and after seeing a reel explaining Slik Skool, I signed up. Her explanations of the class hit all the major points I was looking for. I love everything about it. Right from the first slide, I knew that this is what I was looking for. The courses are short and to the point. Just like her Instagram account, Marie’s courses are down to earth, and the community of fellow students complements the whole learning experience in a down to earth way.  It's been a few months now and I find myself going back to revisit the earlier course and I really want to share my experience with the whole Slik Squad.

  • I appreciated the piece on smell - the "hit the gym every day" resonated with me. Then thinking about how can I strengthen that muscle - wanting to make a plan to do that and excited about it!
